As a player and an involved parent of a college student who plays tennis for a high level D3 college men’s tennis team, Mark is uniquely qualified to help you find the right program at the club to meet your goals.

Gilad Bloom, Independent Teaching Pro
Gilad Bloom is a former Israeli Davis Cup player and two-time Olympian, who has been running his own tennis program since 2000. He was the first Director of Tennis at John McEnroe Tennis Academy, serving for two years at its inaugural opening. After a very successful Junior career, Gilad was a world champion byage 12 and reached the finals of the Orange Bowl in 1979. At age 16 he turned pro and played on the ATP Tour from 1983 -1995, reaching the fourth round of the U.S. Open in 1990. He was a finalist at 3 ATP Tour singles events and won 4 Doubles titles on the tour. Notable singles victories include: Jimmy Connors, Petr Korda, Brad Gilbert, Martin Jaite, Carlos Costa, Magnus Gustafsson, Mark Philippoussis and Marcelo Rios, among others. Gilad reached a career-high singles ranking of 61 in the world. He was Israel’s singles champion 3 times and the country’s doubles champion twice. Gilad is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry.

Harel Srugo, Independent Teaching Pro
Harel Srugo, a former Israeli professional tennis player, competed mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour and ITF Futures, both in singles and doubles. Srugo reached his highest ATP singles ranking at No. 703, and his highest ATP doubles ranking at No. 460. Harel then played college tennis for UCLA in the states and, after graduating, opened his own academy, which he operates today. Harel specializes in high performance junior tennis and many of his players are highly nationally ranked juniors. Harel is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry.

Marty Smith, Independent Teaching Pro
Marty Smith has been the Director of Tennis for more than 20 years at the famed New York Athletic Club in Pelham, NY, the No. 1-rated athletic club in the United States. A native of Australia, he was a top five-ranked Australian junior players and was the two-time Southern Conference singles and doubles champion at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He graduated from UTC and also received his MBA at St. Thomas University in Miami. Marty is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry.

Salvador Guerrero Salvador, Independent Teaching Pro
Salvador Guerrero Salvador was the 16 and 18-and-under state and national singles and doubles champion of Mexico. He has successfully competed in NCAA D1 tennis as well as on the Pro Tour, playing Futures and Challengers. He achieved a top-15 ranking in the professional circuit in Mexico. Salvador played in the US Playoffs and was the sparring partner of several top-50 ATP professionals. He has extensive coaching experience working at the Cancun High-Performance Center, West Rock Tennis Academy, New York Athletic Club and, running his own program. Salvador is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry.

Robert Ridge, Independent Teaching Pro
Born in England, Robert began playing at the age of 14 and played on the European
junior circuit until the age of 18. Following a 3-year break, he returned to tennis to focus on a career in coaching as the Head Professional for Former World #7 and ex British Davis Cup Team coach Roger Taylor MBE. Having lived and taught across Europe and here in the United States, Robert brings an International level of communication and education for any level of player. With his unique hardline, high-tech but fun approach to player development you are guaranteed to give your game an edge. Robert is L.T.A. Jeff Nerenberg, Independent Teaching Pro
Jeff Nerenberg opened his tennis academy (JNTA) in 1975. Jeff was the Boys Varsity Coach of the Collegiate School in New York, from 1976-1979. He was the Men’s Tennis Coach at Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York from 1981-2001. From 2007-2013, Jeff was the Head Tennis coach (Boy’s and Girl’s) at Riverdale Country School, Riverdale, NY. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Queens College and a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education from New York University. Jeff is certified by the Professional Tennis Registry.
