How do we raise the level of our game? “Practice makes perfect,” some say. “Taking Lessons Regularly” ,others say. “Playing with better players” I have heard mentioned. Even working with a therapist on the mental component is another idea thrown out.
All these ideas are not wrong and are needed. However, without competing – I do not believe you can raise your level. Competing regularly is good for every Pro and Club payer alike. No one ever plays as well as they would like in match play. Disappointment abounds but it is the player who can utilize the knowledge gained from their experience in tournaments that will reach their goals in tennis.
The team aspect, finding strategic solutions to what is happening in the tournament is fun and rewarding. I welcome you to sign up for the women’s December 9th Partner format day tournament and meet other friendly faces with like-minded goals. Use these experiences and gain tips from Anne who was at the top of the Women’s game for over a decade, competing in Grand Slam doubles finals on three occasions.
