Adult Programs

Manhattan Plaza Racquet Club’s (MPRC’s) Tennis Programs, Clinics, and Group Lessons are open to members and nonmembers. Nonmembers may participate at nonmember rates. Instructional programs have no more than four people to a court. All the programs are organized and taught by our highly qualified and experienced staff. Racquet rental available. Non-members may reserve court time three times a year during a membership year and pay court fees and a guest fee per person.

PRIVATE LESSONS
MPRC has an established and highly qualified staff of tennis teaching professionals. They are USPTA or USPTR certified pros and/or have advanced tournament experience and attained world rankings through playing world class tennis tournaments such as the US Open, French Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open, or have advanced tournament experience attaining sectional rankings and several years of tennis teaching experience, and/or teaching/coaching ranked and professional players. Our full-time tennis pros teach students of all age groups and levels—from beginner to advanced. The cost of a private lesson usually varies from $60.00 to $120.00 per hour (plus court fee) de-pending on the tennis pro’s individual rate. Members may reserve two weeks in advance. GROUP LESSONS
Group Lessons are open to members and nonmembers. Nonmembers pay an additional fee.
Individual attention at group prices. There are four weekly 1 1/2-hour sessions with only four people to a court arranged according to level of play (NTRP rating system) by a USPTR or USPTA certified tennis pro. Beginners learn each stroke step-by-step. Intermediates learn control and consistency. Advanced players learn to improve power, spin, and finesse.

WEEKEND SINGLES LEAGUE
A tennis ladder at your competitive NTRP level. Active year-round. Join anytime! Play three or more times to watch your progress on the ladder. End of the year playoffs with trophies and prizes.

MPRC has an Aces Group composed of members and nonmembers that are advanced players with a NTRP rating of 5.0 +.  Drills, Matches and Tournaments are arranged.  Rates vary according to day/time when the competitive arrangements occur.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON POWER DRILLS

Enjoy a great workout, hit hundreds of tennis balls, and improve your game with this popular Sunday afternoon program for members.  The power drills include the approach volley, overhead smash, running crosscourt forehand, and more with rotational doubles drills.

DAYTIME DOUBLES CLINICS
Weekly 2-hour drill and play clinic with personal supervision by a USPTR certified MPRC tennis pro. Learn strategy, positioning and shot placement. All levels welcome. Each player’s skill will be evaluated by competitive drills and game situations. Grouped according to NTRP level.
